The Gefilteria is excited to collaborate on a series of 3 upcoming food tours with The Neighborhood , the new Jewish cultural center based in Brooklyn.

The first tour will be led by friend of The Gefilteria Itta Werdiger. The tour explores the culinary traditions and new hotspots of Lubbavitch Crown Heights and its food scene. You’ll sample herring and pickles from the local experts, and also see the new world of kosher food: from artisanal croissants to kosher pizzas that may feel more Little Italy than Lower East Side.

Itta Werdiger is a Brooklyn-based chef and mixologist as well as a mother of four, a community builder, and an entrepreneur. Werdiger has been featured in The Forward, Haaretz, Tablet and Crain's Business. Previously chef and owner of the Mason and Mug, her speakeasy-style supper club The Hester was mentioned in the New Yorker and she developed a potato kugel recipe with the New York Times.
