Pickles, Plov, & Plotz: Brunch on Brighton Beach

The Gefilteria is excited to collaborate on a series of 3 food tours with The Neighborhood , the new Jewish cultural center based in Brooklyn.

Tour 3 takes us to an enclave of mostly Ukrainian Jews for nearly fifty years — hence, its old nickname, Little Odessa — today Brighton Beach is home to a diversity of immigrants from the Former Soviet Union. On this tour, led by chef Marina Berger, we’ll taste our way around the Black Sea, the Caucasus, and Central Asia as we stroll down Brighton Beach Avenue. We’ll sample Ukrainian dumplings, Georgian khachapuri, a variety of Uzbek plovs, and, of course, so many pickles! We’ll end with a picnic on the beach, sharing stories and watching the waves.
